Why Slab Cabinet Doors Are A Good Choice Too

When updating your cabinets, you will likely look at several different styles. We believe that slab doors should be on your list and in this article, we'll look at why.

Getting Away From The Norm

Contoured doors such as shaker or raised panel doors have been mainstays of kitchen design for years. These doors are beautiful when done right and are good for many applications.

Slab cabinet doors are also good for multiple applications, but more commonly are used in modern style kitchens. Their clean lines and smooth appearance make them perfect for this type of application.

What They Are

Slab cabinet doors are exactly as the name sounds. While many cabinet doors consist of a raised or flat panel with a rail frame, this style of door has none of that. They are quite literally just a slab with no frame.

They can be constructed of solid hardwood glued in a similar fashion to butcher block, plywood with a hardwood face layer and veneer sides, or MDF that can be used painted or is covered with laminate or thermofoil.

Cabinet Door World only offers solid hardwood of the highest quality, MDF, and thermofoil. We do not do plywood.

How They Are Used

Slab doors can give you several different looks depending on how they are finished.

Euro-style kitchens often use a high gloss finish that gives them a high-end, posh feel. However, leaving them unfinished or simply clear coating them will give you a simplistic feel that can work in any design.

When they are finished, they are typically finished with bold colors, but they don't have to be finished to look beautiful in your home.

Wrapping Up

We hope that we have put slab doors on your radar as an option for your own kitchen or bath. They can give you that super modern or super simple look you are dreaming of and you'll be able to enjoy them for years to come.
